**Contains box spoilers. If you haven’t had your box yet or opened it and don’t want the surprise ruined then look away now!**

Hello book friends. Today I’m sharing my unboxing of the latest My Chronicle Book Box, this is the second box I’ve received and it is fantastic! Once again it contained three books – yes, three books. And a wonderful selection of bookish goodies.

You can pick from a crime and mystery box or a sci-fi and fantasy box. I get the crime and mystery box, but I have to say the sci-fi one is rather tempting too.

So read on to see February’s treats.

THE BOOKS

‘The Confession’ by Jo Spain.

Late one night a man walks into the luxurious home of disgraced banker Harry McNamara and his wife Julie. The man launches an unspeakably brutal attack on Harry as a horror-struck Julie watches, frozen by fear. It looks like Harry’s many sins – corruption, greed, betrayal – have finally caught up with him.

An hour later the intruder, JP Carney, hands himself in, confessing to the assault. The police have a victim, a suspect in custody and an eye-witness account, but Julie remains troubled.

Has Carney’s surrender really been driven by a guilty conscience or is this confession the first calculated move in a deadly game?

‘Murder at the Mill’ by M.B Shaw.

Iris Grey arrives at Mill Cottage in a picture-perfect Hampshire village, looking to escape from her crumbling marriage. She is drawn to the neighbouring Wetherby family, and is commissioned to paint a portrait of Dominic Wetherby, a celebrated crime writer.

At the Wetherby’s Christmas Eve party, the mulled wine is in full flow – but so too are tensions and rivalries among the guests. On Christmas Day, the youngest member of the Wetherby family, Lorcan, finds a body in the water. A tragic accident? Or a deadly crime?

With the snow falling, Iris enters a world of village gossip, romantic intrigue, buried secrets and murder.

‘The Devil’s Claw’ by Laura Dearman.

Following a traumatic incident in London, Jennifer Dorey has returned to her childhood home in Guernsey, taking a job as a reporter at the local newspaper.

After the discovery of a drowned woman on a beach, she uncovers a pattern of similar deaths that have taken place over the past fifty years.

Together with DCI Michael Gilbert, an officer on the verge of retirement, they follow a dark trail of island myths and folklore to ‘Fritz’, the illegitimate son of a Nazi soldier. His work, painstakingly executed, has so far gone undetected.

I have read two of these books already – ‘The Confession’ and ‘Murder at the Mill’ – both of which are fantastic reads that I highly recommend. I am intrigued by ‘The Devil’s Claw’ and I’m looking forward to reading that. The box also contained signed book plates for each book and exclusive interviews with Laura Dearman and MB Shaw.

What else was in the box, I hear you cry.

A wonderful, beautiful book print made by Boka Prints, featuring a quote from one of the world’s most famous bookworms, Hermione Granger.

An exclusive library themed notebook made by WhirlingWorld.

An absolutely delicious Tequilla Mockingbird handmade lip balm. This is made by Lovely Cosmetics and I received the strawberry margarita cocktail flavour. It is scrumptious!

Also included were two taster packets of loose leaf tea from The Gilded Teapot. There were five possible options you could get, I got the Casterbridge Afternoon and Lapsang Souchong. The packets were especially selected by the owner of The Gilded Teapot to compliment reading.

And to accompany the tea, a tea ball infuser made exclusively by Home2Inspire. I love that it has a little bookish quote on it ‘All you need is tea and good books’. I couldn’t agree more!

And there we have it. Another outstanding box from Louise. What do you guys think? Once again I loved the attention to detail, the books are wrapped and there was a cute personalised sticker on the inside of the box.
